As modern courses employ increasingly rich and interactive content options, course designers cannot lose sight of ensuring that instructional content is accessible by all students. Utilizing tools provided within the LMS interface, inside common productivity software, and available freely online will help you make sure your online courses comply with federal law and widely accepted accessibility guidelines.
The User Dashboard can be a powerful learning hub for both learners and instructors. It provides alerts about upcoming course and site activities, as well as an at-a-glance overview of course progress, all of which being links directly to the course or activity. Add to this the ability to add a variety of useful widgets and blocks, and the Dashboard can be configured to quickly become each user's launchpad to learning.
Totara Learn has expanded the concept of the User Dashboard by giving site administrators the ability to create multiple Dashboards, and making each accessible to only certain users. Want a Dashboard with reports geared to your management team, or a Dashboard with tools and links for a specific organization? This powerful feature allows Dashboards to be made available based on any criterion that defines an audience of users.
Making the move from face-to-face instruction to teaching online can be rewarding. That said, the first step of that journey - setting up your online course - can be a challenge. How do you reproduce the delivery of lesson content, the active class discussions, and the various ways you assess your students’ learning that are second nature in the live classroom? This session is for anyone new to online learning who could benefit from some guidance in how to get started on the right foot for a successful online course.
Not all instruction occurs online! The Totara Learn Seminar activity allows trainers to create and manage in-person events within the LMS. Learn how this activity can manage the location and physical resources needed for the event, as well as provide a trackable registration process for users.
